YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

March 14th looked like the beginning of Spring. It was a little cold with some warm pockets, with a light drizzle coming down. Obviously that wasn’t a problem because everyone inside looked overjoyed to be there. Rob seemed pretty collected when I checked in with him. I think he was ready to start the party! We headed down to the alter to await Erica’s arrival, and to watch one of his groomsmen pull the runner up the aisle…which was tricky. The fabric was stuck on itself so he couldn’t pull it up the traditional way, but he could think on his feet so he slowly unrolled it with his hands and made his way up. It took twice as long, but was twice as amusing and I think helped everyone relax into the moment. Rob looked ready to grab a glass of wine from the wine ceremony behind him, but realized that this is what makes a wedding unique. Soon Erica entered the beautiful Karpeles Manuscript Museum, and all eyes were on her. She looked gorgeous and nervous…exactly how you’d want her to look! They started off nervously smiling at each other, but then I think caught the nervous giggles because they kept laughing throughout…which made me laugh…and their guests laugh. So it was pretty much a great time. Soon enough it was time to kiss and get out of there! The exited onto the stone steps of Karpeles and were greeted with handfuls of birdseed thrown into the air, kind of at their faces, and definitely in their hair. They laughed and kissed and you could tell it was a perfect moment. Congratulations Rob & Erica!!! I’m glad to have shared in your moment and I wish you a lifetime of happiness!

I like when cold weather doesn’t stop a couple from getting married. You’re powerless wind chill! It’s even more amazing when their wedding vendor abruptly closes a month before and leaves them in a lurch, that they don’t panic. They just make it happen. Because it’s a moment that needs to happen. And that’s exactly how it went for Justin and Tina. They may have had to scramble, but they ended up at the Brierwood Country Club for what turned out to be a perfect moment. They were a little nervous when I first arrived. They may have forgotten the wine box and love letters for part of their ceremony. They may have also forgotten the marriage license. But with a couple like that, there are always friends on hand to make it right, and after a short delay, they were ready to go! Tina looked beautiful as she was escorted down the aisle to her future husband. And while they kept it together for most of the ceremony, those personalized vows had them, their family and friends, and me (just about), in tears. I felt like I had known them their whole relationship and I couldn’t have been happier to be sharing this moment with them. Finally the kiss arrived and they grabbed each other with a look of pure joy. Congratulations Justin & Tina! I knew everything would work out for the two of you because the two of you are perfect for each other, and not being together was never an option. Best wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness!

Hello and welcome! Just to let you know if this is your first visit, I will be out of town from February 9th until the 16th. I will be unable to answer your emails because I’ll be swimming and white water rafting and zip lining through the jungles of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Take care and stay warm and I’ll get back to you as soon as I return!

Charece and Patrick are doing it right. They are getting married in Hawaii in the coming months. Sounds amazing! But before jet setting off the paradise, they decided to share this important moment with their close friends and family. And they decided this last week! So on Sunday February 8th, during a wintery afternoon, they said their I do’s for the first time at Danny’s South in Orchard Park. Charece looked amazing in her fluffy white winter coat, wrapped around her looked snug as a bug, and she seemed unbelievably happy. As her and Patrick gathered before a handful of guests, they had their moment and sealed it with a kiss. Congratulations Patrick and Charece. Getting married to each other once is one thing, but twice is pure magic! Here’s to a happy life together.

Did you think that the January 9th snowstorm was inconvenient? Well, be happy it wasn’t your wedding day…and you didn’t have family driving in…on a highway that was shut down. But when it’s meant to be your day, and your friends and family would stop at nothing to be a part of it, things turn out ok in the end. Beautiful actually. So on that snowy evening I headed down to the Mansion on Delaware to be a part of Debra and Patrick’s big day. I was expecting Debra to be freaking out over the weather, but she was mostly just overcome with happiness that the day was here. I mean she was there, and Pat was there, so really, what more could you need? As chilly family members slowly began to trickle in, we realized that almost everyone would make this day no matter what. Debra and Pat took some photos beforehand, using the snow as a beautiful background. And with fires burning inside the gorgeous mansion, you could almost forget what was happening outside.
Soon enough, Debra was walking out to Pat, as he waited for her in front of a roaring fire, and they smiled in anticipation of all that was coming next. For two self-proclaimed awkward people, it was a pretty beautiful moment that left the audience smiling. Congratulations Patrick and Debra! It was worth getting stuck in the snow twice to share in your moment. And I’m sure when you look back, you wouldn’t change a thing. Much love.

I can’t think of a better way to start of a new year than to get married. And that’s exactly what Brenna & James did on January 2nd, at Karpeles Manuscript Museum! Ok, it was a bit cold out. And perhaps there was some icy rain falling. But that didn’t matter one bit to a couple who have been waiting for this moment. When I arrived I checked in with James to make sure he was feeling ok. He looked really, really excited. I went over some things with him and he asked if he could read his vows quickly for a little practice. He got as far as “I James take you Brenna to be my wife…” before the tears started! Now that’s a man in love! I had to quickly excuse myself because when grooms tear up because they are so happy to marry their love, I can barely keep it together. Finally the time came for James and myself to wait in front of family and guests for Brenna to make her way down the aisle. Being as beautiful as she is, it was a sight for everyone. As soon as she was close enough, James grabbed her and hugged her. They looked so happy, but also relieved to have a partner there with them! They said their vows and lit a unity candle, and in no time they were in each others arms for that first kiss as husband and wife. Congratulations James & Brenna! You’re a wonderful couple and I’m so happy that Lee Evans brought you back together 😉

I know some of you had a love-filled Christmas the included a heart-felt proposal. I can’t wait to hear from you in 2015!!!
