YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

Friday August 31st was beautiful not only because the sun kept shinning late into the day, but because Kelly and Brian were finally wed! Kloc’s Blossom Grove was full of smiling people as Brian and his groomsmen joked (sort of) about how nervous and excited they were. As Brian and I waiting for Kelly to make her (gorgeous) appearance, I don’t think I ever laughed more with a groom! He was all jokes and smiles and pure happiness as Kelly stepped out into the sunshine, and into his hands. I’m so happy I was able to meet them and be a part of their day. They are a fantastic couple and fantastic people who I wish nothing but happiness forever!

Saturday August 25th was especially memorable for two reasons. Number one, it got up to over 90 degrees, and number two, the amazing and perfect-for-each-other Kathy and Theron were married! I first found Theron pacing under an enormous gazebo at Banchetti’s in Amherst. I’m pretty sure all of the sweat he was facing had nothing to do with the heat…he was nervous and it was adorable! His groomsmen kept him calm and laughing, but nothing seemed to prepare him for when Kathy began walking towards him. I watched tears stream down his face only to be matched by her own tears as she met him. They had the biggest smiles for each other and kept whispering “I love you” to each other throughout the ceremony. When you can stand outside on such a hot day in a suit coat and not be bothered by the heat because you’re fully focused on the couple, you know you’ve met some amazing people. Congratulations Theron and Kathy. I wish you nothing but the best. And since Kathy reminded me that the internet helped her find her true love and me to be a part of it, I’d like to in turn remind everyone out there not to close their minds to the many possible ways to find people. You never know! ❤

Oh the rain. It’s been teasing us gardeners by threatening to come and then not. And it’s been a bigger threat to our happy couples who planned outdoor ceremonies! On Saturday August 11th, Beth and Ed were that couple. The air was cool and lovely and everything at Lockport Locks looked perfect. Not to mention a boat ride with their guests after the ceremony could only make things better…that is, if the rain held off. Beth looked a little nervous (but gorgeous) as she fussed over some small things (which I think was mostly the thought of rain), and Ed just beamed at her as her assured her everything would be fine. And it was more than fine! The happy couple looked amazing and the rain stayed away so they could say their vows outside among smiling guests and laughs between the two of them as their sand ceremony spilled over a bit. All in all, it was a perfect day and I’m sure that continued on into the evening. Congratulations Ed and Beth! I’m lucky to have met you and Ed, you’re lucky Beth was so patient with you in the beginning. Ha! It was obviously worth it.

It hasn’t rained for weeks and weeks, but on Sunday August 5th, the rain came down. And while the plants were happy, Paul and Kerry paced nervously at Becker Farms in Gasport, NY wondering what would happen to their outdoor ceremony. And then, for a magical 20 minutes, the sun burst through the clouds and smiled down on Kerry and Paul so they could have their dream wedding in the sunshine. And it was wonderful! Kerry looked around nervously until it was time, and then walked up with Paul for their beautiful moment. After more than a decade together it was about time that Paul and Kerry were able to be married in front of friends and family, and share in each others love and joy. Congratulations to these two wonderful gentlemen. I wish them nothing but the best!

Saturday August 4th was a scorcher, but you wouldn’t know if from the happy looks on Donna and Robert’s faces at the Hotel Lafayette in Buffalo. No wedding can go 100% smoothly, but Donna remained calm as we scurried to get her wine ceremony set up, and to fix the wedding cake that lost a tier to the floor :”(
Robert looked incredibly happy as we stood in the steamy courtyard and anticipated Donna’s arrival. They couldn’t take their eyes of each other and once you saw them together, you didn’t even notice the heat. I was so happy that I met these two because they were so laid back and so perfect for each other. Congratulations Robert and Donna! Who knew a night out rocking to Pat Benatar would turn into true love!!!

A last minute email led to a last minute wedding on Saturday August 4th at Delaware Park in Buffalo. And I LOVE last minute weddings! No time to fret or fuss, just remember why you’re there and it all works out! Aleah & Josh travelled from Ohio to be married here since they don’t support Ohio’s stance against gay marriage. How could I have said no to people as cool as that?! It was a hot one for sure, 95 degrees I believe, but that didn’t damper Josh and Aleah’s spirit. They said their vows under a giant willow tree down by the water as their two guests taped the ceremony and kept a call on speaker so friends could hear! Congratulations Aleah & Joshua! I wish you guys the best.

First off, I’m pretty sure that on Friday July 27th, at the Terry Hills Golf Course, Matt was wearing my favorite groom outfit ever. Pink shirt and bow tie forever! He was calm and dapper as he waiting for Danielle to greet him, but all that coolness went out the window when he began his vows and tears fell from his eyes. Danielle smiled back at him and when they grabbed hands you could feel the love between the two of them. Not to mention I received my favorite compliment from the maid of honor! She told me that weddings usually make her feel depressed and alone, like she has no chance at happiness (she’s hilarious), but that this was the first ceremony she ever heard that filled her with hope that happiness is still possible! And that’s nice to hear! Congratulations Matt & Danielle. I wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Saturday July 21st was a perfect day outside, and a perfect day inside at the gorgeous Hotel Lafayette in downtown Buffalo. You couldn’t help but gasp as you walked into Ken and Tina’s ballroom with it’s exposed brick, hardwood floors, and dapper looking groomsmen. Ken was nervous, but excited as he ran around making sure everything would be perfect when Tina came out. And what a beauty she was when she did! The room was full of chatter, but hushed when she came out, tears immediately building in her eyes. They couldn’t take their eyes of each other, except when they looked over at their little ring bearer and son, Lucas, who may have been the most handsome one there! Congratulations Ken and Tina. I’m so glad you found each other and that you found me! Nothing but the best!

I love when grooms are nervous. And Brian was the perfect mix of nervous and excited. This was the moment he had been waiting for and I think he was just so excited to get out there and marry his love, Emily! A gorgeous day at Becker Farms in Gasport, NY, they said their vows in front of friends and family in a gorgeous outdoor setting along with a very interested rooster who started their ceremony off for them! Emily looked gorgeous as she came down the aisle and Brian couldn’t take his eyes off her. Congratulations Emily and Brian! I feel extremely lucky that I was able to meet both of you and share in your moment. If only everyone could find someone as wonderful as these two!

Although a group of about six kids chanted “rain rain go away,” somehow it didn’t work on Friday July 20th, but that doesn’t matter when you have a couple as perfect for each other as Dave and Michelle! While the rain came down at Woodlawn Beach in Hamburg, they grabbed umbrellas and each others hands and headed down the boardwalk to be wed in front of the beautiful lake. Even the rain on Michelle’s cheeks couldn’t be mask the tears that were sneaking out as she read her vows Dave. I’ve never felt so lucky to hang out in the rain! It ended up being a beautiful moment and I wish nothing but the best for Michelle and Dave. And don’t forget, rain is lucky!!!
