YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

I was lucky enough to spend July 14th with Jessica and John at the Tuscarora Inn in Lockport, NY. The couple were all smiles and jokes as Jessica posed with a giant moose head that adorned the wall (and i mean giant!) and John paced back and forth shaking hands with guests and making sure everything was perfect. They are a beautiful couple and even more so when they were staring into each others eyes and Jessica tried (and kind of failed) to hold back her tears. Not to mention, you can’t top a wedding that after it’s finished, the best man pulls out his flask of whiskey and even the minister (that’s me!) gets a swig. Congratulations John & Jessica. You are the kind of couple that others strive to be. I know there will be nothing but happiness and love in your future!

So it has been a very busy summer for weddings and I’ve been lucky enough to officiate many of them. I’ve been getting some really lovely feedback that lets me know that I’m definitely supposed to be doing this in life and sharing in these moments. I just wanted to thank everyone who has left me a recommendation. They mean the world to me and I value each one. If you’re new to the site take a minute to check them out here and you’ll know that I’ve met some amazing people, and I can’t wait to meet more!
Thanks. For everything.

Last Saturday (July 7th) was an absolutely gorgeous day. A little bit of rain in the morning cooled the afternoon off so that by the time Joanna and Jeremy were ready to say “I do,” the weather was perfect. Out in Grand Island ,under a giant weeping willow tree, Joanna and Jeremy held hands and smiled at each other and vowed to love each other until the end of time. They traveled from Austin Texas all the way to New York to be married on Joanna’s Grandfather’s property. Joanna told me that back when her Grandmother was alive, she always used to talk about a yellow bird that lived on their property that she called Goldie, so it was appropriate that YellowBird Wedding was there to share in the moment. Congratulations Jeremy and Joanna! I’ll miss our skype conversations since you guys are such a fun loving, intelligent couple. I wish you nothing but the best!!!

If one wedding didn’t make for a great day, a second one made for an exceptional one! Everything was perfect at Samuel’s Grande Manor as Andy and Danielle pulled up with the sun shining down on them. The bridal party looked gorgeous, but all eyes were on Danielle as she walked out because she was breathtaking! Their vows were so moving that I had to distract myself at one point because I thought I was going to cry. Danielle and Andy are such a beautiful couple, it’s obvious when you meet them that they were made for each other. Congratulations Andrew and Danielle! You’re both amazing and I wish you the best!

The weather today, Saturday June 30th, was unbelievable, and one would think it couldn’t get better. Of course the breeze off the lake at Jennifer and Angelo’s lake house would prove that thought wrong! A small and beautiful ceremony, their friends honored them with a wine toast during the ceremony and then their love defied nature by allowing their unity candle to stay lit just long enough for them to take it in and enjoy the moment! It’s couples like this that make me feel so lucky to do what I do. I’m so happy I met you guys and I wish you nothing but the best and a lifetime of happiness!!!

Some people (me) spend their Tuesday’s watching Law and Order SVU marathons on TV. Angel and Candi decided to spice it up by getting married at the Lodge Auction House! Yesterday, June 26th, was a loved filled weekday as Angel and Candi were finally married after a decade together. Minus little hitches (their wedding song was missing from their ipod!) that were easily fixed (I just bought it on my phone), and some stressful ones (Angel forgot her vows), things came into their own, and Angel’s from the heart vows looked and felt like they meant the world to Candi. After some nervous smiles and giggles, they were married and grabbed each other in the one the biggest kisses I’ve seen yet. The photo below is my favorite, because it was right after they were married, and I love how Angel’s lipstick is smeared because of their passion. Hopefully she won’t mind that I posted it! Congratulations to Angel & Candi. Enjoy your lifetime of happiness!

For almost two decades Crystal and Yohance knew they were meant to be together, but being stationed away from each other in the Army made it difficult. Of course true love always prevails so today, Sunday June 24th at Glen Park, they took the love they’ve been building for almost 20 years and made it official! The sun was shining and Crystal looked amazing as they stood near Glen Falls and said their vows over the rush of the water. I hope today was a happy one because the next four will be spend driving across country (!) as they move to California with their children, but I’m sure it will be a dream come true once they arrive. Congratulations Crystal & Yohance. I couldn’t be happier that everything finally came together and you never have to be apart again!

You’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful building in Williamsville than the Park Country Club, and you’d find it even more difficult to find a more beautiful bride on Saturday June 23rd than Kristen. She was literally glowing! A gorgeous outdoor ceremony, Jonathan waiting for his bride to meet him under the alter and she nervously swayed and smiled as she delivered her vows. There may have been some background noise, but they stayed focused on each other and the beautiful moment they were sharing. (We decided later that all the banging we heard must have been someone building a shrine to their love)! Congratulations Kristen & Jonathan. I feel lucky that I got to spend time with you and share in your big day. I can’t wait to get some pictures of the big day!

I don’t think Shea’s was expecting such a fun and amazing couple on Friday night, but they got lucky! Between Dave and his converse and Gina with her beautiful calla lilies, they were taking everything in stride (minor wedding complications) and laughing throughout. Not to mention they probably delivered my favorite vows ever by saying “I’ll love you forever” and giving each other a giant high five after. Congratulations to Gina and Dave. Continue having as much for with each other as you always do, and there will be nothing but happiness in your future!
