because simple is beautiful

Friday July 12th was a beautiful day to get married outside. And I think Angela and Adam had to keep reminding themselves how lucky they were with the weather, so they could forget that their hair stylist just didn’t show up. And the flowers arrived dead. And the cupcakes were missing. Yikes! Still though, they both looked calm and mildly amused at La Galleria, at everything that was happening around them. It didn’t stop them from being all smiles when their moment came. I think the moment that almost made me lose composure was when Adam reached over and wiped a tear from Angela’s cheek! It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple. Congratulations to both of them a million times over. They proved that it’s not about things going perfect, it’s about finding the perfect person.

Some people look forward to 4th of July weekend because of days off and fireworks. Others, because they’re getting married! Christine & Tom were that couple on Saturday July 6th, waiting to tie the knot at the Tonawanda Castle. It was the first time I was able to meet them face to face without a computer screen between us and it was fantastic! Christine looked beautiful downstairs and Tom sort of nervously paced upstairs. Finally it was time for the big moment, and before anything could start, they both had tears in their eyes, so happy for this moment to have finally arrived. Christine managed to keep the ceremony light, cracking small jokes and making reassuring faces to Tom. Sometimes it’s clear I have the best spot in the house to see all the nuances between couples! Congratulations to an amazing couple. I see nothing but happy days in your future!

What is up with all this rain? Especially on June 28th, it got so bad Lockport put out a driving ban because of it! But rain my friends, will not stop love. So off to Becker Farms I headed, umbrella in hand, and once I arrived everyone was so happy and glowing, you wouldn’t know it was raining on a wedding day! I think Jennifer and Alissa were both sure it was good luck. I stood up front with Alissa as we waiting for Jennifer, and although I asked her two questions, she couldn’t seem to hear me at all! She was staring at the door that her future wife was about to walk through. Jennifer came out with the biggest smile on her face and everyone around her broke out into applause. This was a moment that everyone knew was inevitable. It was tear filled and beautiful and I’m glad that I was able to share in it. Although I really wanted to share in the fresh pies and berries at every table! Congratulations Alissa & Jennifer. I wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Saturday June 22nd was supposed to be a rain filled day. Luckily in Lakewood, NY there was nothing but sunshine and a warm breeze. Renee and Josh were married in their backyard of their beautiful home. They have the kind of backyard the rest of us only dream about, including the apple tree which they got married under! Everyone was laughing and having a great time as we waiting for Renee to make her grand entrance. We knew it was time to go when Josh said “well, I guess it’s time to put on my suit coat!” Renee looked beautiful as she walked across her yard to Josh. They chose to whisper their vows to each other which made them lovely and intimate, and instead of exchanging rings, they tied two ropes into an unbreakable knot, representing their love and their marriage. Congratulations Josh and Renee! I’m so glad I was able to get to know the two of you and share in your day. Best of luck with everything including that new little kitten!

Saturday June 15th was a beautiful day. Not too hot, not too cold, and when you’re standing near a small stream with trees swaying in the background, it couldn’t have felt any better. O’Brien’s Sleepy Hollow in East Aurora is amazing. I felt like I was walking into a wedding on a movie set! I checked in with Joe, who looked very excited, and then went to check out their beautiful tree sapling for their Tree Planting Ceremony. Everything looked perfect. Erin arrived early and hid in her limo with her bridesmaids, anticipating the moment she could walk to her future husband. Once they reached each other, they were focused on the others face, and their vows were so moving, my eyes were getting a little wet! And it’s the first wedding I’ve attended where they threw rice at them after and I can see why it was so popular. It looked so cute! Congratulations Joe & Erin. You are a fantastic couple and I know there will be nothing but happiness in your future!

I think the rain made a conscious effort on June 8th not to come down during Nikki and Mike’s ceremony. It looked like it wanted to, but they were granted a beautiful evening in which to say their “I do’s.” The Avanti Mansion never disappoints and it looked beautiful as always. The first person I saw was Mike and man oh man, did he look happy! After making sure everything was set, we waited for the ceremony to begin. The wedding planner and I joked that no one told Mike to go down to the alter, but he was so excited he couldn’t wait! I loved watching him as Nikki was walked down to him. Such a mix of happiness and nervousness. Nikki looked beautiful and once they took hands, it was like no one else existed. They were in each others eyes and it looked liked that’s where they wanted to stay for eternity. It’s always nice when I can only meet a couple online, but when I finally see them face to face, it feels like we’re old friends. Congratulations Nikki & Mike! I wish you endless happiness!

What a way to start off a month! On June 1st I headed over to the beautiful Brookfield Country Club to celebrate Kate and Daniels big day. Not only are they an adorable couple, but Ayres Photography was there and I love them so, double bonus! Kate and Daniel had decided last minute to move the wedding indoors which was a good idea since 10 minutes before go time it started pouring. But I doubt anything could have put a damper on the excitement Daniel and Kate were feeling. After watching the groom and groomsmen joke around and have a great time before the ceremony started, once Daniel walked down the aisle, he became serious waiting for his bride. Until of course she was a minute delayed and he gave a big look at his watch. The crowd loved it! Then Kate made her way down and looked gorgeous. I had to stop myself from hugging her when she made it to Daniel because she was shaking she was so nervous! Once they looked at each other though, everything else fell into place. It was a beautiful moment and when they stomped on the glass at the end and their friends and family yelled, “Mozel Tov!” you knew you had been involved with something special. Congratulations and best wishes Kate & Daniel!

I think we’ve all head about how beautiful the Avanti Mansion is, but if you don’t know about it, make sure you check it out! It was a breathtaking sight that was only enhanced when Lisa and Ian stood together in front of it. After watching Ian nervous chat with his best man for awhile, and Lisa and her bridesmaids anxiously get ready, I knew that I had two people who were ready to do this. As I waited with Ian for Lisa to be escorted down the long stone steps, I watched him watch her, nervous smiles coming to his face. They were nervous about their vows, but when the time came they went off without a hitch. Some things that are meant to happen, happen. Congratulations Ian & Lisa. I wish you nothing but the best!
