Congratulations Shelby & Bill!!!

March 31st might have ended the month, but it began a new life for Shelby and Bill. After being together for many years and creating two beautiful little girls, they decided to make it official at The Columns Banquets. I met Shelby through an old friend of mine, and I’m so happy he introduced us! What an amazing couple. I was very excited to join them on their big day. Guests piled in as Shelby hid out with her bridesmaids, putting on the finishing touches. I walked in on a friend fastening her shoes for her. True friendship. Bill was in the banquet room checking things over and mostly doing a bit of nervous pacing. He said he had felt fine all day, but now that we were 15 minutes out, the nerves were starting to show. Soon it was time to head up front and wait for his bride to meet him. I think he felt better once he saw her and they were finally face to face. And of course there was laughter as their youngest daughter made it clear she wasn’t loving all of this nonsense such as walking down an aisle and then sitting quietly. Shelby and Bill did their vows and of course looked thrilled when it was time to finally kiss as husband and wife. Immediately afterwards they went into a room by themselves to take a moment to process what had happened with only each other. I really loved the idea and think that could be good for all couples. Just press pause and look at each other and let it sink in what an amazing thing that just happened! Congratulations Bill and Shelby! You’re a perfect pair and I know your home will continue to be full of love and happiness. Best wishes always.

The first wedding of a new season is always a special one, and I couldn’t have been happier than to share it with Matthew and Fabian on March 25th! A beautiful couple that I liked from the moment I met them and I was thrilled that Matthew’s mom found me. At the 20th Century Club, or as I’m now referring to it, Buffalo’s Best Kept Secret, they waited with their guests for the moment to arrive. It was a very intimate affair with no more than 30 guests, and it felt perfect for this couple. They’ve had a busy relationship with Fabian living in Germany for some of it, so between lots of travel and phone calls and long nights apart, they wanted something simple yet beautiful for their wedding. And that’s my literal motto! They both looked dapper in their tuxedos and were definitely full of nerves. The planner at the venue made sure they had a drink to calm down, and I think the gin did them good. Soon though it was time to head upstairs to make it official. They were still very nervous, but I knew once it started, and they stood there looking at each other, it would all come into place and the nerves would leave for feelings of completeness. And I watched that happen before my eyes! After their beautiful vows to each other, and Matthew’s friend and Fabian’s brother coming up to sign the marriage license during the ceremony (German tradition), it was time to kiss and be wed! Congratulations Fabian & Matthew! I’m so happy that an airline strike brought you to each other and I wish you nothing but happiness. Much love forever!

It’s always crazy when the time finally comes. The last wedding of the year! And I couldn’t have had a better couple than Sarah and Heath to celebrate with! On December 17th, at the Foundry, I was able to share in a beautiful moment the felt like a wedding and a Christmas party at the same time. I first checked in with Sarah and found her absolutely glowing and excited and yet still taking care of her two little boys as they ran around and tried not to get into trouble. Heath was also ready for the big moment, and when the boys were with him, they made an adorable trio. There was a Christmas tree stationed behind where the couple would stand, and there were ornaments on it that the family of four made, that guests could take with them as they left. I was feeling nothing but joy, although I did see Grandpa looking at the photo of Grandma who had passed, sand when he started crying I was incredibly touched. There was just so much love in the room. Soon it was time to start and Sarah was escorted down to meet Heath who looked like he had been waiting his whole life for this moment. Everything was perfect, and even if they did have to look away from each other a few time to see what the boys were up to, you could tell this moment was shared between just the two of them. Until of course they gathered in a circle with the boys to share family vows about loving each other always and forever. Truly, almost better than Christmas! Soon enough it was time for the kiss and guest were immediately swarming them congratulating them and wishing them the best. Congratulations Heath and Sarah!!! There is no one else I would have wanted to celebrate my final wedding of the year with, and I feel better for now knowing the two of you. Best wishes always!

There is always a point in December when it starts to feel like Christmas. For me, it was December 4th at Columns in Elma for Rebecca and Mark’s wedding! What a winter wonderland! There were trees and snowmen and presents and snow and garland and everything you could imagine. And then there was the most beautiful ornament of all…Rebecca! She looked stunning in her dress and she confessed that her and Mark are true Christmas lovers. As if that wasn’t apparent! As Rebecca finished getting ready, I found Mark, nervously roaming around with his tux and baseball hat, and found that he was ready to get things started. His young son (best-man!) was on his heels making silly jokes and feeling quite confident in his little man tux. They were an adorable pair. Guests were cozying up the fireplace and telling stories about the couple. It felt like I was at a wonderful family’s Christmas party, and I didn’t want the night to end. Soon enough though, it was time to begin, and I headed up to the front with Mark to await Rebecca. Everyone stood as she slowly made her way down the aisle, looking lovely and Mark beaming at her. The ceremony was an amazing moment full of laughter and whispers and smiles and it felt really special for me, especially since it was my second to last wedding of the year! After their vows and kiss, the grasped hands and headed back into their wonderland, ready for their new life together. Congratulations Mark and Rebecca! You’re a perfect couple and I know you have many, many Christmases together ahead of you. Much love!

November 11th was special not only because Kelsey and Kevin were married, but I did my first official church wedding! The Trinity Church is a gorgeous building that let’s non-denominational ministers perform ceremonies there. I was a tad bit intimidated when I first walked in, but soon it felt welcoming and of course full of love as guests filled in. I found Kevin who had a nervous glow to him and seemed just as in love with the space as I was. He was eager for Kelsy to arrive and I think get everything started. The longer you stand around the more nervous you feel! There was a pianist on the stage greeting everyone, and it felt like the perfect time to watch a couple share their love. And that’s exactly what they did when Kelsey arrived! She walked down the aisle and then Kevin came out to meet her and bring her up onto the stage, where they both looked nervous together! They smiled so much and gave me that “wow this is happening” look a few times. Kevin made it all the way to the last line of his vows, before he chocked up and needed a second to catch his breath. That looked like Kelsey’s favorite moment of all. Only to be topped by the kiss at the end! Congratulations Kevin and Kelsey! It was a beautiful moment for such beautiful people and far from your last one together. I wish you so much happiness in your life together!

Congratulations Nikole & Bryan!!!

Remember remember the 5th of November. I can tell you in all certainty, that Nikole and Bryan will surely do just that! At The Webb, in a gorgeous brick room, their guests gathered on an unseasonably warm and beautiful day to watch Nikole and Bryan share their vows and become husband and wife. They both seemed pretty excited and calm when I arrived (more on that later), and I enjoyed just walking around and looking at all the beautiful things at their wedding. Guests were taking photos of each other with Polaroid cameras and leaving them in a guest book for the couple. After everyone said their hellos, it was time to sit down and await the beautiful Nikole as she made her entrance. I would say in this moment, Bryan possibly lost his calm. He looked very, very nervous. I think it all hit him in one moment. That after 9 years together, it was his wedding day! I watched him shoot small glances at Nikole, but I could tell her was worried about crying so he would quickly look away and focus on getting through the moment. Nikole was beaming at him the whole time though, I’m sure knowing how he is and how he would handle the moment. When they said their vows though, they looked into each others eyes and you could feel the love that had been created over all those years. Eventually the hard part was over and they could kiss and relax into their new rolls. Congratulations Bryan and Nikole! I’m so happy that I met you and spent this amazing moment with you. You’ve been through so much together already, these next 50 or so years will be a breeze 😉
