Ok. Your wedding day is approaching. That one big day you’ve been saving for that you want to be perfect and memorable. The only thing is, you want it to be memorable because it was beautiful, not because it’s the day that you spent your entire life savings.
Here are a couple tips that should help guide you on how to have a killer wedding, without wanting to die afterwards.

A few quick tips:
1. Make sure both of you have the same priorities – being on the same page makes all the difference.
2. Limit the guest list – it’s tough, but possible.
3. Cuisine Costs – think about a buffet!
4. Location!!! We all want a palace, but beauty can be found in lots of different places.
5. Attire – you can fall in love with a dress from a department store just as easily as a boutique. I know you can!
6. Decorations – think about a place that is already decorated like a public garden or museum. Or, think about doing your own flowers.
7. Invitations – grab a DIY book and not only save, but make your invites more your style.
8. Music – bands are great, but DJ’s might be less expensive. Shop around!
9. Photography – holy smokes this can be expensive! Having wonderful pictures are a must, but search different packages. Maybe you don’t need 4000 pictures of your big day. I mean really, you only need a couple gems for the wall.
10. Bar Service – don’t worry, people can get that happy feeling with two hours of open bar instead of five.

Judy and Susie were married last Friday (01/27) and it’s about time! The happy couple has been together since 1979. Now that’s impressive! I was so happy to be able to share in their joy at the Elma Towne Grille as their friends and family happily looked on.

I also wanted to share an email Judy sent me a few days after the wedding. I think I had a smile on my face for a good hour after I read this. Congratulations again Judy & Susie. I’m so happy that this day finally happened for you, and that I was lucky enough to meet both of you and be a part of the excitement.

“We received many many compliments on the ceremony you performed.
Susie and I really loved it, it was beautiful and very touching. Both our sisters cried during the ceremony.  My sister was very moved, she said she didn’t even cry at her own wedding but loved our entire ceremony. My cousin’s husband loved the ceremony, he said it was the best wedding ceremony he has been to.  He said the words were perfect.  My cousin’s son who is only 11 yrs old was very touched by the ceremony.  He told his mom “he feels so much love”.  Everyone at the wedding loved how the ceremony was done.
Thank you for making our special day even more special!”

It may have been cold at Niagara Falls on Sunday January 22nd, but Rick and Katherine’s smiling faces made it all worth while. After an approximately 400 mile journey, Rick and Katherine arrived at Niagara Falls in their RV with four dogs in tow, to be married in front of one of the wonders of the world. Everything was snow covered and beautiful…it looked like waking up in Narnia! It was worth the frozen hands to be able to spend and afternoon with the two of them and share in their day. Congratulations Rick and Katherine!

Ok, I may be an ordained minister, but I’m also a librarian so I can’t help but love literary themed weddings! Check out some of these amazing photos on Pinterest and get those creative juices flowing. And if you decide to have a literary wedding, please call me so I can gush all about it!

I’m often telling the couples I meet that there are no rules when it comes to your big day. Check out this article about how the trend now is couples personalizing more than ever to reflect themselves! Remember, you don’t have to hold back who you are as a couple…there are no do-overs for your wedding day.

I received this email earlier in the week from Katie who was married to her love Cory on New Year’s Eve. I found it very touching and I thought I would share it.  I feel lucky everyday that I get to meet such wonderful people.

“Michelle, I wanted to write to you and thank you so much for performing such an incredibly beautiful ceremony. We received so many compliments on the ceremony and you, and we truly felt that your personality and your words were a reflection of us. It was incredible. I couldn’t have said any of it better myself. I wasn’t expecting the words about distance and separation…it was perfect, meaningful and we could not keep it together! I saw your blog post and shared it on facebook, that was so sweet, thank you!!! I am so glad we found you and I REALLY hope you can make this a full-time gig for yourself…you truly “get it,” and you are completely comfortable, which is something that radiates and soothes the people around you. We couldn’t be happier. Thank you for contributing largely to what turned out to be a perfect day. We wouldn’t change a thing.”
