YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

Why would anyone be out of bed by 7am on a Sunday? Well if you met Mercy and Deanna, you would be A-OK with it! They wanted to have their wedding ceremony on their anniversary, which was Sunday, May 18th, and they wanted it at 8am! I’m assuming it’s so they could spend the whole day together as an official married couple. At their beautiful house in Tonawanda, with their adorable dogs Danny and DeVito, they eagerly awaited the arrival of their friend and witness to start this once in a lifetime moment. And let me tell you, DeVito was very excited! On top of their vows they had three requests of each other. They said those to each other and promised to always follow these important wishes from their partner. Then, those giant smiles turned into a giant kiss and they were joined in marriage forever! Congratulations Deanna & Mercy! You’re a beautiful couple and I’m so excited that you were finally able to have this moment. I’m also so happy that I was able to share in it!

Didn’t want to leave DeVito out!

I thought May 17 might end up being a cold Saturday. As I made my way to the Timberlodge Banquet Facility on the Arrowhead Golf Course, I worried that we would be having an overcast ceremony with light sprinkles. I guess I forgot how lucky Rebecca and Adam are! Not only did they find each other (in high school no less), they ended up having a beautiful moment in the sunshine! Maybe too much sunshine if you were standing were Adam was. 😉
They both looked a little nervous before it began, and Rebecca was convinced she was going to slip up her vows, but of course they were both perfect and had nothing to worry about. When that big kiss came it looked like a mix of absolute happiness that they were married AND that they didn’t have to stand in front of everyone anymore!
Congratulations Adam and Rebecca. You always knew you were meant to be together and now you will for all days. Much love!

May 10th was a double wedding day which is my favorite! I was lucky enough to meet up with Andrea and Jonathan who unfortunately had to push their wedding date up a couple months, but we managed to make the most of a small, intimate moment. They found the perfect spot at Stiglmeier Park where the park trees swayed in the evening breeze and adorable woodchucks were running around! Although it was a bit chilly, I think their shaking had more to do with the amazing moment they were sharing. They said their vows in front of their single witness whom was beaming with love as she took pictures. Sometimes the smallest weddings are the most romantic because you can really get lost in each other. Congratulations Andrea & Jonathan! Although I’m sorry you had to rush, I’m glad that you found me. Enjoy your long life together.

On May 10th I took a beautiful drive to Great Valley, NY to the Grace Depot House to share in Adrienne & Ethan’s big day. Adrienne and Ethan are a lesson that love can be found anywhere since they met when they were 12 years old at Camp Onyasha. 12! They became quick friends and stayed in touch over many, many years. After endless letters and visits, they realized they were meant to be together and so they have been for over a decade! Finally they decided to make it official and planned a beautiful evening with friends and family. The chatty, happy crowd was silenced when Adrienne made her way out with her parents on each arm and met Ethan at the alter. Between smiles and tears they made their way through their vows into an overdue wedding kiss. Congratulations Ethan and Adrienne. Although you had to go through some stress when your first officiant couldn’t make it, I’m so happy that I was able to sneak in and share in your day. My best wishes to a couple that ended up with their best friend!

April 2nd might have seemed like an ordinary day to a lot of people, but to Corina and Andrew, it was as unique as the universe could offer. After seven years of loving each other, and knowing each other since they were 14, it was finally their wedding day! Andrew and Corina both have a fascination with the way the universe works and the beautiful mystery behind it. They used that mutual love to create such a unique wedding, that you couldn’t not get caught up in the brilliance of it. With lights and orbs hanging around the gorgeous Webb Hotel, which is part of Pearl Street, I loved their cake, the star artwork that guests signed, as well as a table full of candy and 4 flatscreen TV’s for guests to play Will and Playstation! How awesome is that?! Andrew and I waited as Corina, looking absolutely lovely, slowly walked out to him. There were immediate tears and I wasn’t sure if Corina was going to make it all the way through her vows! They were just so happy to be saying these wonderful things to each other. Finally that perfect kiss arrived and they smiled with glee as they were pronounced husband and wife! Congratulations Corina and Andrew. I knew from the minute I met you that you were going to have a beautiful day because you’re a beautiful couple. Much love!

March 29th was magical for a couple reasons. #1, it was the first time I experienced slushie raining down from the sky and #2, Shannon and Ben were married! The latter part was much nicer! At the stunning Hotel Lafayette, I caught a glimpse of Ben and Shannon posing for their wedding pictures and I’m pretty sure they’re going to be very happy. They both looked gorgeous! They looked happy,  but a bit nervous as they tried to hide from guests and keep their wedding party together. Soon enough though, the moment arrived. Ben and I walked up to the front and waited for Shannon to make her grand enterance. And even though Shannon and Ben had seen each other and done photos, as soon as she stepped out and began walking towards him, he was immediately in tears. Cutest. Thing. Ever.
They took a moment to wipe his face and joke with their guests and then started the cermeony. Now it was Shannon’s turn to cry! We had to take a quick pause so that she could get a tissue from her ever ready maid of honor and compose herself for the big moment. I told them to cut it out because I was getting ready to cry! Congratulations Shannon & Ben. You’re an amazing couple and I’m so happy that you found each other. And I hope Ben’s ring finger is ok now!

March 27th forgot that it was Spring. Standing outside at Niagara Falls seemed a bit chilly until Tammy and Terri showed up. Their smiling faces and amazing attitude made everything better, and soon, I was enjoying my time outside! Tammy & Terri were first married 18 years ago in Maui, and this time around I guess they were going with a whole different climate 😉
After finding a beautiful spot in front of the falls, they recited the same vows to each other that they did almost two decades earlier. But that didn’t stop the tears from coming to their eyes! Terri laughed as her eyes welled up, and Tammy grabbed her hands to let her know that it was fine. I couldn’t stop smiling at the two of them! They perfectly captured what marriage is meant to be. Two people who will always love and support each other. I couldn’t have been happier that I was a part of their moment. Their energy had me walking away feeling like it was a gorgeous spring day and that life was beautiful. Now that’s one exceptional couple! Congratulations Terry & Tammy! I’m so glad you found me and that I was able to meet both of you. I wish you didn’t live so far away! All my best and many more decades of happiness!
