YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

January 4th was one the the cutest days ever, because I got to marry Mackenzie and Nate in their beautiful home! They are both lowkey people who were looking for a lowkey event. So at 11am, I bundled up against the cold January air, and made my way to their home to share in the moment with them and their parents. The intimate setting made the whole event feel very special. They gazed at each other, breaking out in huge grins or laughs, with eyes tearing up as well. I felt really honored to share in such a private moment, and even though there weren’t many people in the room, you couldn’t tell after they kissed as husband and wife and everyone started applauding! Congratulations Nate and Mackenzie! You two were obviously meant for each other and I wish you so much future happiness.

What better way to celebrate a new year and a new season than a wedding on New Years Day! I found myself at Akron Falls Park to ring in the day with Kenzie and Sam. It was a cold one for sure, but you couldn’t tell by looking at Kenzie and Sam. They were both so happy and excited, an intimate moment with just them and a photographer, as they read their beautiful, heartfelt vows to each other, little frozen tears forming in their eyes. They held cold hands while smiling, waiting for that first kiss as husband and wife! Congratulations Sam and Kenzie! I’m so happy I got to start my year full of the love I felt coming off the two of you.

What a way to end my season with the amazing Paige and Keegan at the always amazing Buffalo History Museum! Everything just looked so perfect and beautiful, and nothing more so than Paige, who was glowing as she prepared to marry the love of her life! Keegan was beaming just as much and I could tell this was going to be a very special moment. As Keegan and I waited at the altar, Paige made her radiant debut and they were both all smiles. It felt like such a moment of connectivity as they listened to me, laughed together, smiled, grasped hands, and eventually kissed (and dipped!) as husband and wife! Congratulations Keegan and Paige! You were made to find each other and I wish you a long and happy life together!

November 2nd was a lovely day at The Botanical Gardens, my favorite wedding spot! I found Dave when I arrived, and he had his curmudgeon act on, but I wasn’t buying it. Although they told me he doesn’t smile, and wasn’t looking forward to the ceremony (all that attention on him) and doesn’t get emotional, I didn’t believe it. And let me tell you, I was right. He insisted he was just impatiently waiting for things to get moving, and when I finally saw Kathryn, looking so beautiful, she wasn’t phased by Dave. That’s the guy she loves and I think she knew how he was really going to feel when things got going!
So Dave and I went up to the altar to await Kathryn’s entrance. He hadn’t seen her yet and the moment she stepped out onto that aisle, I watched the tears form in his eyes and start to stream down his cheek. YES! These are the best moments! He seemed so moved to see the woman he loves, walking to meet him and become his wife, that there was no way not to be affected. They shared beautiful moments together while holding hands and it was such a meaningful and beautiful kiss at the end! Contractions Dave and Kathryn! I think this turned out to be the perfect moment that you both hoped for in different ways. May your whole marriage be that way!

Ok I’ve been terrible at keeping this up to date with the amazing humans that I’ve married, but I went on a trip and I got lazy! But I have to mention Ashley and Nadim, who were married September 20th at The Foundry! This wedding was so much fun. Ashley and Nadim are gamers who found each other doing what they love, and were so surprised and happy when that turned to love. Not to mention a bunch of their guests were online friends who were flying in to finally meet them on their big day! And what a day it was! You could tell how excited they both were, with Nadim radiating adorable nerves moments before the ceremony started. But he didn’t need to worry. Once Ashley made her way out to him, you could visibly see they both relax and recognize what they were doing here. They smiled and held back tears, and it was a wonderful moment when I finally got to pronounce them husband and wife! Congratulations Nadim and Ashley. It’s so clear you were made for each other, and I’m just so happy that in the world wide web, you were able to find one another. Best wishes always!

September 7th felt like the first real fall day, with light showers coming in and out, as I went for a drive to Belhurst Castle and Winery for Nicole and Jon’s wedding. At times, I was nervous about their outdoor wedding and the sporadic rain, but I shouldn’t have been because everything worked out exactly as it was meant to.
When I arrived, I think I saw the most stunning flower arrangements of any wedding I’ve ever been to! Nicole and Jon had planned something small and intimate, a wedding on the lake followed by a dinner with closest family and friends. It really suited their personalities. They both looked beautiful and stood side by side as they waited for things to get started.
Jon and I headed outside with the guests, and we were all treated to a rainbow directly behind us, over the water. It seemed like such a good omen for the start of a marriage. As Nicole made her way to the altar, some sideways drizzle started, but instead of ruining anything, it made us all laugh and I joked about it with the couple, and within minutes, it stopped. There is power to not letting anything ruin your day! The couple smiled and laughed and was fully present for everything, even when their unity candle refused to stay lit in the fall breeze. None of that mattered. All that mattered was that they were in each others arms, kissing as husband and wife. A truly perfect moment. Congratulations Jon and Nicole! I wish you a lifetime of rain filled or rain free days, because it doesn’t matter so long as you’re together!

What a day, what a venue, and what a couple! On August 31st, I found myself at Whittier Apple Farm to celebrate Donna and Taylor’s wedding. Rain was threatening to spoil things, but it mostly held off and only gave us a couple drops during the ceremony. The couple looked fantastic when I saw them. Donna beautiful in her dress and Taylor looked dapper with his groomsmen, having a deep and long discussion about how many buttons to button on a suit jacket (if there are two buttons everyone, you button only the top one).
Soon enough I was standing by a lovely pond, listening to Donna and Taylor exchange their personal vows as I wished them many happy trips in the Adirondacks! And you wouldn’t believe how big they were smiling because they knew that kiss was coming, as I happily pronounced them husband and wife! Congratulations Taylor and Donna. I wish you a lifetime of beautiful moments just like this one!

August 30th was spectacular day! It was sunny and gorgeous, especially at O’Brien’s Sleepy Hollow for Chelsea and Lucas’s wedding day! My only concern…was all the geese! There were so many in the creek right behind the ceremony spot, and we all know how geese can be, but luckily, it all went off without a hitch 🪿🪿🪿
I found Lucas, sweating it up with his groomsmen as they played basketball on a crazy hot day, but I felt he was getting some of his nervousness out. Chelsea looked absolutely beautiful, finishing up photos with her bridal party.
Soon enough we were lining up to begin! I got a hug from Lucas’s mom, so I was pumped and ready to go! Once we got to the altar, I could tell that there wasn’t enough basketball to get all of Lucas’s nerves out. But you could see the love on his face as Chelsea made her way down to him. They both seemed nervous, but were easing into it as it went on. Then my favorite moment happened! I tell the bride to put her left hand out for her ring, and then the groom repeats after me before her slips it on her finger. Well Chelsea ended up putting her hand out palm up, and nervous Lucas didn’t know what to do, so he placed the ring in the middle of her palm! It was seriously one of the most adorable things I’ve seen at a ceremony, and everyone lovingly laughed. These are the best moments at weddings. Soon enough though, all rings were on correctly and they were kissing as husband and wife! Congratulations Lucas and Chelsea. You met in the wildest of ways and I know your marriage will continue that wonderful, spontaneous, wild energy throughout!

August 17th was a stunning day at The Buffalo History Museum, which matched the way that Stephanie and Nate looked! And, a first for me after over 500 weddings, but I got stung by a bee before the ceremony started! Not my favorite, but hey, the good with the bad and a beautiful summer day 😆
The space outside the museum looked beautiful, flowers everywhere and a keyboard player filling the space with music. And there were parasols to keep guests cool to boot! I found Nate looking dapper, hanging around with his groomsmen, everyone sweating a little bit in the sun, but knowing it was all going to be worth it very soon. And soon enough Stephanie arrived, looking like a dream as she made her way down the grass aisle to meet Nate. They looked at each other with such knowing love and you could tell the audience felt it as well. Soon enough they were in each others arms, kissing as husband and wife! Congratulations Nate and Stephanie! I wish you much love on your happy life together.

I was so lucky on August 16th because I didn’t get to perform one wedding, but TWO! My second of the day was at The Admiral Room, where I found a magazine ready couple and wedding ready to happen! It was beautiful inside the building and Lindsay and Mike were also just glowing and gorgeous as they waited for this moment to begin. Guests were slowly gathering, admiring the beautiful space and lovely details that made everything perfect. But no matter how good the space looked, everyone really just wanted to see Lindsay and Mike. Soon enough that moment arrived and after Mike and I walked out to wait at the altar, out came Lindsay, both of them immediately with tears in their eyes as soon as they saw each other. Then I looked and saw almost all the bridesmaids crying, some groomsmen tearing up, and half the audience. I had to really keep it together! It was such a beautiful moment full of love and friendship, and you could tell how invested everyone was with this amazing relationship. They made it through their vows with smiles and tears and laughter and soon enough they were grabbing each other and kissing as husband and wife!
Congratulations Mike and Lindsay! You’re such a lovely couple and I know you have so many years of happiness together. Much love!
