YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

Some couples are lucky enough to have a seamless wedding, where everything seems to fall into perfect place. And some have to work a little harder and seem to be thwarted around every turn. Jamie & Jake are the latter, but you sure wouldn’t know it. Did Jake get in a terrible car accident a few days before, still wearing his wounds? Yes. Did it rain on their wedding day when all they wanted was to have the ceremony outside? Yes. Did this put them in a terrible mood on their wedding day? Not at all. And that’s what love and marriage is all about. Knowing that no matter what is going on around you, whether or not it feels perfect, it is perfect because you are with your person. So on July 29th, the ceremony moved inside the beautiful Kin Loch Farmstead, Jamie and Jake switched sides to hide his scars, and they held hands and smiled and were married, and looked damn good doing it! And that’s what makes this a perfect wedding that I was honored to be a part of. Their vows meant as much as anything could and when they kissed as husband and wife, the crowd looked so happy, and maybe even their little one did as well.
Congratulations Jake and Jamie. I’m sorry for the bad luck, but happy for the good life I know you have ahead of you.

What a beautiful day July 21 was! A perfect summer day and a perfect day to get married at Samuel’s Grande Manor. So many flowers all around to match the beauty of Miranda and Matthew, as they got ready to tie the knot! Miranda was hiding away with her bridal party, looking a little nervous, but definitely excited. And I can tell you Matthew was ready to go and looked so happy as he walked down the aisle to await Miranda. She finally reached him and they were all smiles and maybe some slight tears in the eyes as they listened to a reading from a good friend, shared their vows, and lit a unity candle to symbolize the two of them coming together as one. It was a very special moment, and was topped off with bubbles drifting down the aisle after their first kiss as husband and wife. Congratulations Matthew and Miranda! It was such a perfect moment for the two of you and one that you deserved so much. Best wishes for a long and happy life together!

I love a beautiful and simple wedding. It’s what I made my whole business around! And that was the feel of Stacey and Bryan’s wedding at Resurgence Brewing Co. on July 15th. Bryan was there, already excited and ready for guests to show up so they could, watch a ceremony, eat some food and head outside the the festival they were all going to! Guests excitedly were putting on wristbands and ignoring the VERY dark clouds that were gathering in the sky. Then the wind started, the kind of wind that picks up chairs and tosses them around and in the midst of this, Stacey arrived. We were running to get her inside before the skies opened up and holy cow, we just made it! No sooner was she hiding near the brewing vats then a downpour started outside. But no worries, it’s Buffalo people, so by the time their ceremony was half finished, it was bright and sunny and beautiful outside! Just enough rain on their wedding day for luck!
When Stacey met Bryan at the altar with her son, looking absolutely stunning, they looked so happy and in love. It was a really beautiful moment and even though we were all sweating together in the now blazing sun, we laughed and they had their perfect moment. By the time they kissed their small crowd erupted in excitement and they were ready to start the party! Congratulation Bryan and Stacey! It was such a pleasure to meet such a wonderful down to earth couple and to share in your day. Much love!

July 30th was extra special at Kotecki’s, because my good friend from work had recommended me to marry her son! What an honor! So I found myself at Andrew and Anna’s wedding, so happy to be a part of all the excitement. When I first arrived I found my friend, Darlene not only looking stunning, but so proud of her son and happy with the wonderful person he was marrying. Everyone would pile in the space we were waiting in, happily congratulating the couple, while they were pretty much cool and calm the whole time. I think when you’re so sure that what you’re doing is the best thing you could do, you don’t have too many nerves! Anna looked beautiful and Andrew very handsome, and looked so happy posing with (his equally tall) brother and dad. I was excited for this ceremony to start and wasn’t disappointed!
Anna made her way out to Andrew and they looked so happy when they were together. They smiled at each other and laughed along with the ceremony, but also I could see how moved they were to be standing there together. They made it through their vows until they were in each others arms as husband and wife!
Congratulations Andrew and Anna! I’ve overjoyed that I got to meet you both and share in this amazing moment. Much love to you (and of course mome) always!

June 24th was a perfect wedding day, especially at The Old Orchard Inn! Abby and Patrick had picked a perfect spot for the two of them, and I knew this was going to be a beautiful moment. They both seemed pretty calm when I arrived, but I watched the emotion grow and then peak during the ceremony! As they made their way to their gorgeous alter, with a pond behind them and a light breeze, it really seemed out of a movie. They looked at each other, but as the ceremony went on and got more personal and emotional, I watched Patrick look away a lot to hide his emotions. I see this a lot and it’s very sweet. Although everyone wants their groom or bride to look at them the whole time, keep in mind sometimes people look away because they are IN THE MOMENT and don’t wanna lose it in front of a group. It’s truly a beautiful thing. They grabbed hands and found some light moments and some laughter throughout. After their candle ceremony, which they were very determined to light against the winds wishes (and did!), they were kissing as husband and wife!
Congratulations Patrick and Abby! You are so lovely together and I’m excited thinking about your future life together. Much love!

What a fun day June 23rd was at Wurlitzer Events! While Kristen and Eddie both don’t love attention on them, they still seemed pretty excited for their wedding day. Ok, maybe Eddie seemed a little more nervous. But they sure looked good! I checked in with both and while the nerves were there, you could tell how happy they were as well. The space really fit them, filled with beauty and games, and I knew that after the nerves of the ceremony wore off, they were going to have an amazing evening. They made their way out in front of their guests and then they seemed to be only focused on each other. They made it through their vows and then it was time for the sand ceremony. It was a bit hot and muggy in the room and it seemed the sand had other ideas than being gently poured into a symbolic container. It pretty much stayed put and everyone had a good laugh about it, including the couple. After that you could see they were completely themselves and happily kissed when the moment arrived.
Congratulations Eddie and Kristen! You’re such a perfect couple and I see nothing but happiness in your future!

There is truly nothing better than a Thursday wedding. Thursdays can be so boring. You’re just wishing it over so it can be Friday and then the weekend, but that is NOT how June 8th felt. At Maison Albion, I was having a great time, along with all of Bianka and Mike’s guests for their weekday wedding! When I first arrived, I found Mike entertaining so many guests. I don’t think he got a second to himself, but he was happy telling stories and being excited for this moment. Bianka was upstairs looking stunning, completely relaxed and ready for the moment to begin. We excitedly talked about Budapest where I had just come from and where she is from and I think we could have talked on and on if we didn’t have a wedding to attend 😉
Soon enough, Mike and I were outside watching the wedding party make their way down, and then of course the showstopper that was Bianka. They shared such a beautiful moment together and you could see their love in their big first kiss! Congratulations Mike and Bianka! You’re so lovely together and I’m so happy this moment happened for you (including so many obstacles on the way)! Best of luck always.

June 3rd I found myself at Kin Event Space in Rochester for Laura and Cory’s wedding. I can’t even describe how cute these two are! I’m pretty sure from the moment they were both at the altar together, tears were happening. It was truly beautiful to see how happy and moved they were by this moment. I could tell they were really listening to everything I was saying, and were relating to how they words described them and their relationship. I looked out at the audience at one point and could see how moved everyone was. Soon enough they were kissing as Mr. & Mrs.! Congratulations Cory and Laura. I know you have so many happy days ahead of you and I’m so glad I got to share in this moment!

I love weddings at Pearl at the Webb. It’s a beautiful space and I feel that they get a lot of Buffalove weddings. And that was the case on April 29th for Trisha and Tony’s wedding! Bills paraphernalia? ✔ A dog in the ceremony? ✔ A happy and loving couple? ✔ Buffalo weddings rule!
I found Tony hanging out with his kids and their lovely puppers, eagerly awaiting the moment. When Trisha made her appearance she looked beautiful and happy. You could tell how much this moment meant to them. Also Tony walking down the aisle to the Rocky theme song, you really understood what a fun couple they are. Things got serious though for the ceremony. They looked at each other with love and feeling, and through their smiles I could feel the emotion. There was an uproarious cheer when they finally kissed as husband and wife. Congratulations Tony and Trisha! I wish you a long and happy life together, and all the pets Daphne can handle!

Ok, let me tell you, April 28th was a blast! I was lucky enough to find myself at 500 Pearl for Stephanie and Charles wedding! I know Stephanie, who is a wedding photographer (smwphotography), simply from so many weddings we’ve shared. And after getting to know each other a bit, she decided that she wanted me to marry her and her husband and I was honored! What I didn’t know is how much the two of them would make me laugh!
When I first arrived, Stephanie was nervous…with a large splash of anxious. I was surprised because Charles couldn’t have possibly been more chill, and after so many weddings I figured this would be commonplace for Stephanie. I. Was. Wrong. She immediately told me to start cutting out chunks of the ceremony to make it shorter which was hilarious and which I of course did (and more on the fly while I was performing the ceremony) and was explaining how much she hated being in front of people. I truly understood as soon as Stephanie made her way up the aisle to Charles and grabbed his hands…then his arms…then his shoulders…then stood way back from him…then toe to toe. And this went on the entire time. It was so cute! The guests loved it. You could see how nervous but excited she was. And there was Charles, keeping her as calm as he could and you knew she would only be able to do this with him by her side. After torturing her for a short time, I finally pronounced them husband and wife and the excitedly kissed and excitedly got back down that aisle! Congratulations Charles and Stephanie! I’m so glad to have met both of you and next time I see you Stephanie you won’t be enjoying such a day off! Best wishes!
