YellowBird Wedding

because simple is beautiful

September 7th felt like the first real fall day, with light showers coming in and out, as I went for a drive to Belhurst Castle and Winery for Nicole and Jon’s wedding. At times, I was nervous about their outdoor wedding and the sporadic rain, but I shouldn’t have been because everything worked out exactly as it was meant to.
When I arrived, I think I saw the most stunning flower arrangements of any wedding I’ve ever been to! Nicole and Jon had planned something small and intimate, a wedding on the lake followed by a dinner with closest family and friends. It really suited their personalities. They both looked beautiful and stood side by side as they waited for things to get started.
Jon and I headed outside with the guests, and we were all treated to a rainbow directly behind us, over the water. It seemed like such a good omen for the start of a marriage. As Nicole made her way to the altar, some sideways drizzle started, but instead of ruining anything, it made us all laugh and I joked about it with the couple, and within minutes, it stopped. There is power to not letting anything ruin your day! The couple smiled and laughed and was fully present for everything, even when their unity candle refused to stay lit in the fall breeze. None of that mattered. All that mattered was that they were in each others arms, kissing as husband and wife. A truly perfect moment. Congratulations Jon and Nicole! I wish you a lifetime of rain filled or rain free days, because it doesn’t matter so long as you’re together!
